Common uses

This medication is typically used for pulmonary hypertension (a condition in which the pressure in the blood vessel leading from the heart to the lungs rises above normal levels). It requires a few weeks to take effect.

How to use this medication

Certain heart medication (nitrates) must be avoided while taking this product. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

This medication is typically used 3 times a day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Take it regularly and continuously to maintain its beneficial effects.

Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. This medication may be taken with or without food.

Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice during your treatment. Grapefruit can seriously affect how this medication works.

Possible side effects

In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably:

• it may cause headaches;
• it may cause sleep disturbances or insomnia;
• it may cause indigestion;
• it may cause nosebleeds;
• it may cause redness of the face;
• it may temporarily affect your ability to perceive colour.
