Common uses

This medication is an antiplatelet drug which thins the blood. Typically, it is used for the prevention of heart disease. It may also be used to assist in the treatment of heart attacks, as well as for other uses. Even though you may not feel its effects, this medication takes effect within a few hours.

How to use this medication

This medication is typically used only once a day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Take it regularly and continuously to maintain its beneficial effects.

Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. This medication may be chewed, crushed or swallowed whole.

This medication may irritate the stomach, and should be taken with food. It is best to avoid coffee, spicy food or alcohol.

Possible side effects

In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably:

• it may cause nausea and vomiting;
• it may cause heartburn;
• it may increase your risk of stomach ulcers.
