Supplements
Since biotin is readily available in food, supplements are not necessary. However, health problems and certain medications can increase the amount of biotin your body needs.
Biotin can be taken without regard to meals, but taking it with meals may be preferable.
Biotin supplements can affect certain lab tests, particularly tests for thyroid function. Inform your health care providers if you are taking any.
